Communities in MSIport.com

MSI portal offers home and visibility to communities active in materials chemistry. Presently it hosts the "Materials Science International Team" (MSIT) - global network of experts in materials constitution and the experimental & computer thermodynamics of materials.

It's not so long since the doors on the Castle were closed at the end of the 31st MSIT meeting on Heterogeneous Multicomponent Equilibria, but already organisation of the 32nd MSIT meeting (and the 3rd of MSIT Europe) is well underway. MSI is pleased to announce that the Schloss Ringberg has been secured for our next meeting. The meeting will kick off with the traditional 'Get Together' in the Gartenzimmer on the evening of Sunday the 11th of February and will finish at lunchtime on Friday the 16th.

We are pleased to announce the second MSIT Winter School on Materials Chemistry will take place from 11-14th of February 2018 at the Ringberg Castle – in parallel with the MSIT Meeting.

The 1st MSIT Winter School in 2017 has shown that there is much interest, in many countries, in learning about the subjects closely associated with phase equilibria in Materials Science. MSIT®, Materials Science International Team, is a network of materials scientists with much expertise in materials constitution.
For over 30 years, MSIT experts have conducted a programme on the critical evaluation of constitutional data and phase diagrams, which has resulted in the publication of a series of over 56 volumes and an electronic database, MSI Eureka, presenting the 'State of the Art' on almost 4500 alloy systems. The lectures and hands-on training given during the MSIT Winter Schools are conducted by MSIT members and invited experts.

The aim of the Winter Schools is to provide the opportunity to learn the techniques that are important in understanding phase equilibria, thermodynamics and closely associated subjects.

At the 2nd Winter School, we aim to cover not only the basic principles but to go deeper in the subject areas in order to give as full an understanding as possible within the time frame.
