Congratulations Olga!

Olga with Prof. Hans Seifert of KIT Karlsruhe, who was a member of the review panel for the thesis defence.

The MSIT is very pleased to announce that one of its most valued and long standing members, Olga Fabrichnaya, gained her habilitation earlier this year.

Olga first studied at the Lomonosov Moscow State University and the Vernadsky Institute of Geochemistry and Analytical Chemistry, Academy of Sciences of USSR in Moscow, gaining a Ph.D. in Chemistry. Following Post Doctoral posts in Moscow and Uppsala in Sweden, she arrived in Germany, firstly as a guest at the MPI in Stuttgart and then on to TU Freiberg, where she is now group leader in the Institute of Materials Science.

As well as being a regular attendee at Ringberg meetings and contributor to many of the volumes published by MSI, she has introduced a number of her students to the team, many of whom make the annual pilgrimage to the Castle. In the broader scientific world, she is a world expert on the thermodynamics and phase diagrams of oxide systems with a particular relevance to coating systems.

The MSIT is very proud to have such a distinguished and experienced member in its ranks, and we look forward to celebrating with Olga at our next 'Ringberg' meeting.
