Frank Stein currently works at the Max Planck Institute for Sustainable Materials, where he is heading the group ‘Intermetallic Materials’ in the Department of Structure and Nano-/Micromechanics of Materials. His research aims at an improved understand of fundamental aspects of structure and stability of intermetallic phases serving as a basis for the development of novel materials with improved properties such as Ti-aluminides, Fe-aluminides, and Laves phase containing systems. Therefore, an important part of his activities is the experimental investigation of phase equilibria and phase transformations in intermetallics-based systems.
