MSIT Winter School

MSIT Winter Schools comprise lectures given by the MSIT members and invited experts on Phase diagrams, Classical and Computational Thermodynamics, and Crystallography and related applicational topics.

MSIT Winter School MSIT Advanced School
2017 was the year that MSI held its 1st Winter School on Phase Diagrams and Thermodynamics. Held in parallel with the 31st  Annual Workshop on Heterogeneous Equilibria, the Winter School comprised lectures given by experts within the MSIT network on Phase diagrams, Classical and Computational Thermodynamics, and Crystallography. Feedback from the Winter School delegates was very positive and it is the intention to continue with this important series of events.

The aim of the Winter Schools is to provide the opportunity to learn the techniques that are important in understanding phase equilibria, thermodynamics and closely associated subjects.

The School is aimed at Materials Scientists of all levels; from R&D researchers from industries, Post Doctoral scientists to Postgraduate students.

The lectures and hands-on training given during the MSIT Winter Schools are conducted by MSIT members and invited experts.

Following the huge success of the MSIT Winter Schools, which focus on the basics of materials chemistry and computational thermodynamics, MSI and MSITĀ® are pleased to announce a new series of advanced training events. The aim of 'The MSIT Advanced Schools' is to take an important topic, or two closely related topics, in Materials Science and give training to a much higher level than is offered at our annual Winter School. The 'MSIT Advanced Schools' are aimed at materials scientists who may be already familiar with the subject but are looking for a deeper understanding. The lectures and 'hands-on' training will be conducted by MSIT members, and where required, external experts will be invited to augment the team so that the School participants can be assured that they will receive the best possible training.
