We are proud to announce that our young MSIT® member, Lorenzo Fenocchio, has successfully defended his PhD thesis at the University of Genoa, earning the well-deserved title of Doctor "cum laude"!

His thesis, entitled “The Genova High-Entropy Alloys (GHEA) Thermodynamic Database: Development, Application and Future perspectives”, explores the development, applications and future perspectives on the Genova High-Entropy Alloys (GHEA) thermodynamic database. Lorenzo’s research focuses on developing thermodynamic CalPhaD databases for the Al-C-Co-Cr-Fe-Ni-R (R= Mo, Ta, W) systems and presents practical examples of GHEA application on these systems, ranging from alloy design to interpretation of experimental results. In the final part, he explores the future perspectives on the database, and more in general on the CALPHAD method, with particular attention to AI- and ML-based techniques and 3rd generation CALPHAD modelling.

We also extend our warmest congratulations to Lorenzo’s supervisor and our esteemed MSIT® member – Prof. Gabriele Cacciamani (Associate Professor, Department of Chemistry and Industrial Chemistry, DCCI University of Genoa)).  Thank you for your continued dedication to sharing your expertise in phase diagrams and thermodynamics with your students.

The whole MSIT® warmly congratulates Dr. Lorenzo Fenocchio on this significant milestone and wishes him further professional growth, continued success and all the best in his future career!
